ABB Group Will Spin Off ABB's Robotics Business and List It Independently
On April 17, ABB officially announced that it will start the relevant procedures and plan to submit it to the 2026 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders for deliberation, and decided to implement a 100% spin-off of its robotics business unit, with the goal of promoting the business to be listed as an independent listed company in the second quarter of 2026.
With approximately 7,000 employees, the ABB Robotics business unit generated sales of $2.3 billion in 2024, representing approximately 7% of ABB's total revenue, with an operating EBITDA margin of 12.1%.

With a history of more than 140 years and approximately 110,000 employees worldwide, Mr. Fu Sai, Chairman of ABB, said: "The independent listing of the robotics business will optimize the potential of both companies in terms of customer value creation, business growth and talent attraction, and a more focused governance structure and capital allocation will benefit both parties.
The ABB Group stated that if the relevant proposals are approved by shareholders, the split plan will be carried out through a distribution of shares. ABB shareholders will receive shares of the new publicly listed company (tentatively named "ABB Robotics") in proportion to their existing shareholdings, as a physical dividend. Starting from the first quarter of 2026, the mechanical automation business unit, which currently belongs to the Robotics and Discrete Automation Division alongside the ABB Robotics business, will be merged into the Process Automation Division. The aim is to enable the business units to benefit from the synergies of software and control technology and enhance customer value creation.
According to the official website, ABB has a full range of business activities such as R&D, manufacturing, sales and engineering services in China, with 27 local enterprises, 15,000 employees, online and offline channels covering about 700 cities across the country, ABB sales revenue last year was US$32.9 billion, operating EBITDA margin of 18.1%, free cash flow of US$3.9 billion.
